How to get involved
There are many ways to get involved with the Austrian Burner community depending on your level of commitment, time, interests and skills.
Whether you want to leave a long-lasting impression on the community by constant engagement and radically new input, or gift your precious time and energy for only a couple of hours for a certain project – every contribution is highly appreciated!
As an active contributor you help the community to thrive and grow, enabling others to experience the charm and magic of events and projects associated with the spirit of Burning Man.
Stay informed
The best way to stay in touch with the community and be informed about what’s going on is to register for our Newsletter. In the newsletter we will regularly tell you about events that are coming up, those that are just being created and could need your help and input, and any other news that concerns the local community.
You can also join our Facebook group to get into direct (virtual) touch with the community and see what we’re up to. Our upcoming events will also be posted there, including calls for help for specific tasks.
Take part
Here are the most common ways to get involved:
- Come to one of our Burning Cafés to get to know members of the local community and chat about more specific ways to get involved in person. Burning Cafés are the perfect way to jump into community action and get the creative ideas going!
- Register for one of our bigger events like Schloss Schönburn and participate on whatever level you’re comfortable with! Our big events also need a lot of teamwork and organization before, during, and after the event itself. Once you are registered, you can be in touch with the organizing committee and be informed on what tasks need input from the community. This could be anything from pure organizational tasks like building webcontent, sending out informational emails, or hunting for more participants and helpers, to “on-site” tasks like transporting gear and equipment, greeting fellow participants upon arrival, taking a shift at the gate to handle check-ins, setting up art projects, facilitate a workshop… or something completely different that you can and want to contribute. The possibilities are nearly endless – you will find your sweet-spot for sure!
- Become a member of our association and contribute long-term to our community goals. With your membership you can take an active part in shaping the future of the community by not only joining forces to make singular events happen, but also ensuring that we can keep organizing events in the future. You can become part of organizing committees, working groups for topics like “web content creation & maintenance” or “communications”, or even aim to become one of the board members of the association. Again, your level of commitment and engagement is completely up to you!
If you are an artist, performer or creative mastermind and want to share your projects with our community, you can generally contact us to find out which event setting would fit your project the best, or you can answer one of the specific calls for artists and contributors for one of our events. Every project from DJing, art & light installations, performance art to interactive workshops is possible. Funding opportunities are event-specific and will be communicated during their preparation.
